Understanding of green roofs is generally limited to the individual companies and a few enthusiasts. Independent advice is not easy to come by.

In Britain there are no government incentives or other support for green roofs and this is a major barrier [Kortright, 2002]. In Germany there are direct incentives and financial investment, which has seen the industry grow by 10-15% annually over the past decade.
