 Zinco Green Roof Systems

The European market leader in green roof technology combined with Alumasc technical expertise. Zinco has a worldwide reputation fostered by close links with the FLL, (German based Landscape Development Research Society), the recognised European voice for green roof standards.  Green roofs effectively replace lost landscape, the result of rapid urban growth, industrialisation and pollution. Green roofs redress the balance of nature, with growing environments as close as possible to natural planting conditions.  Zinco green roof systems retain the necessary quantities of water to support plants, while draining off the excess.

Alumasc offers a variety of green roof landscapes to suit virtually every requirement. In general, green roofs fall into three categories:

Extensive:  Designed to be lightweight and support only hardy plants that require a low maintenance regime and no irrigation.  Access is for maintenance only.

Semi-intensive:  Still lightweight with a shallow soil structure, but designed to support a wider variety of plants such as lavenders, wild flowers, etc, with minimal maintenance.  Generally accessed by adjacent patio areas.

Intensive:  Considerably lighter than the traditional green roof. The system will support a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees.  Often designed to be accessible for recreational use. Requires irrigation and a regular maintenance regime.

The key to high performance Zinco green roofs lies in the build-up, which includes patented drainage elements Floradrain, Floratherm, or Floratech which are ingeniously designed to ensure proper water retention, aeration and drainage.  Zinco green roof systems offer significant benefits:

  • High water retention
  • Reduced dust and smog levels
  • Reduced noise levels
  • Better use of space
  • Improved climatic conditions
  • Increased life expectancy for the roof
  • Additional thermal insulation
  • Provides a natural habitat for birds, insects and plants
